Computers in organizations

Everybody knows that no organization or company is able to function without automated systems and personal computers these days. Computers are used by workers of all levels from secretaries and technicians to directors and presidents. Computers have become an integral part of any company's infrastructure and sometimes the level of computer equipment defines the company's competitiveness in general. The more advance technologies they use, the faster they work or the better products they produce. But efficiency and profitability of a company also largely depend on the systems of management employed in this or that company. New strategies of management are being constantly developed and introduced to improve the whole information flow and speed of work of different subdivisions. Let's see how computerization can be reflected on intraorganizational communications. One of the most important advantages companies will have thanks to computers is decentralization. Workers are no longer required to sit at their workplaces at the office, they simply perform their duties staying at home and communicating with their colleagues and subordinates via Internet. This heightens both the employer's and the employee's interest. The employee gets more chances to get the job because his age or appearance are no longer important for the employer, all he needs is the work to be done, so only professional values are considered; the employer, on the other hand, reduces his expenditures as there is no possibility to rent expensive rooms and control the workers' assiduity. Of course, a company without an office is a nonsense, but the general number of rooms can be reduced considerably to reduce the company's costs. Thus, only key managers can stay at the office and coordinate the work of freelance workers via email, instant messaging or video conferencing.

Freelancers, on the other hand, have more freedom at their homes doing the work. If they are required to perform a certain amount of procedures during the day, they are free to choose what time suits them better, and, for example, study at a school at the same time to get better knowledge for this or any other job. Besides, they are able to find more time for their families as they don't need to spend hours driving to their workplaces. This, of course, improves the general mental condition of a worker, which is very important for the employer too, as he'll receive better results this way. What is more, workers do not have to be distracted from what they are doing by colleagues sitting nearby, and thus do not have to make excess mental efforts paying attention to what is not important for their effective work. Now all emotional feelings of a worker can be focused on his or her family. However, such solitude does not mean absolute isolation from the outer world as workers can still communicate via the Internet and meet after work. Thus there still remains the possibility for people to work in groups if they want to, but for those who feel that excessive communication with colleagues distracts them from their work remote work is a perfect way to concentrate on one or several processes important for the job to be done. Thus computers transform the problem of human resources.
